Hello, I’m Coach Chris!
My name is Chris Rountree and have been either an athlete under elite training programs or a trainer providing elite training programs for over 25 years. I have worked with clients, athletes, and a little bit of everything between. With my experience in special operations, specifically SWAT and as a Tactical Fitness & Wellness Instructor, Coordinator and program Manager for our police department, I am very passionate about raising the bar for people to maximize their specific health, fitness, and performance preparedness goals.

Where I came from
Through grade school I earned a scholarship for the John Newcombe Tennis Academy where I was transferred for on and off training cycles toward the end of my high school stint. I eventually earned a top 10 standing in the State of Texas and chose to attend college on athletic scholarship. The summer between grade school and college, I acquired an injury to my back (which to this day I still am not sure how. I woke up to immense back pain that lasted about a week before seeing a doctor who advised I twisted my tailbone). Even after a steroid shot, resting for the recommended time, and following the physical therapy instructions to a tee, this did not get resolved. I played through the pain for two years into my college career, but set me back quite a bit. With no clear answer, I lost hope of becoming a professional athlete and focused on my schooling.
Broken and Lost
But… that drive never went away. After about a year of only focusing on my studies (civil engineering) and participating in little to no training, my back felt better but my purpose felt lost. I was miserable of waking up early, studying for 12-14 hours a day with classes spinked in the mix, and noticing my grades starting to slip along with my drive and positive outlook. To balance it out, I joined a local college intramural flag football league and quickly ended up in the hospital with a torn ACL and medium meniscus. With my level of deconditioning from the lack of training, my mind wanted to go where my body was not prepared to be. Surgery and repair took place and I was told by the time 30 roles around, I would have arthritis so immense I would probably never be able to walk again.

Back on Track
Jump ahead a few years. I had dropped out of college feeling depressed and optimistic (which is a weird combination). Depressed for the environment I placed myself in and the lack of purpose I was headed for, but optimistic for boldly taking a move that went against what my previous character was (reserved and safe). After dropping out of college (that little move really pissed my parents off), I tried an 8-5 entry job, then a pool boy job, before I eventually became a personal trainer with 24 Hour Fitness. A short career later, I left there to start my own training business which paved the way for my law enforcement career. In the basic police officer academy I claimed two of the 3 fitness records (103 push-ups in 60 seconds, 87 sit-ups in 60 seconds, and missed the 1 mile run time by 3 seconds which was 6:14 I believe). I am sure those have been destroyed by this time.
Moving the Needle
Fast forward past the academy, midnight shifts, winter weather traffic control, call-outs, etc. to 15 year later. As a Lieutenant, I lead a SWAT Team, Manage a police fitness & wellness program, coach youth sports, and expect to maintain an elite personal level of health and fitness. On the other side, I have a beautiful wife and three awesome kids, a group of men at my church who share our walk and faith together, property to keep up with, taxes to pay, all the things. Over the years, my back and knee injuries have popped their ugly heads up from time to time as well as a few additional injuries sustained during my police career, but I have never lost my passion for fitness and geek out on it every chance I get.

From Lost to Leading
I hope my story gives you a bit of insight into the journey that brought me here. By no means am I the leading world expert, but I am extremely passionate about this idea and have seen some amazing results with the process through myself and others I have worked with.
